Google Gemini adds a four-pointed star watermark to AI-generated images using alpha compositing:pixel = original x (1 - α) + white x α. This blends a white star onto your image with varying transparency.
Auto mode uses a pre-captured reference template of the Gemini star to get the exact alpha values at every pixel. With the known alpha map, it reverses the compositing formula:original = (pixel - α x 255) / (1 - α). Because the alpha is known (not estimated), results are pixel-perfect on every background color, including grey.
Paint mode lets you brush over visible text overlays, logos, or watermarks in non-standard positions. The algorithm fills the masked area by sampling surrounding pixels and blending them inward from the edges with a feathered transition for seamless results.

Auto mode is built for one specific job: the standard Gemini star in the bottom-right corner at its usual size. It is the fastest route and needs a single click. Paint mode exists for everything else, and it is what most people want when they search for a Gemini logo remover rather than a watermark remover. Switch to Paint mode when the mark is text such as a model name or a generated-with line, when a logo sits in a corner other than the bottom right, when your image has been cropped or resized so the star no longer lands where Auto expects it, or when Auto leaves a faint ghost behind. Set Brush Size to roughly the thickness of the mark, brush over it with a little margin on each side, then click Remove Painted Area. Smaller strokes give better edges over detailed backgrounds, so on a busy photo it pays to paint in two or three short passes rather than one wide sweep, checking the slider between each one.
