Barcodes fall into two families. 1D (linear) barcodes are the classic parallel-line codes read by retail and warehouse scanners, and they are the type this generator creates. 2D barcodes, such as QR codes and Data Matrix, pack more data into a square grid but need a camera or imaging scanner to read.
